A DESIGN PROBLEM 06
A Design Problem brought together design enthusiasts once again in its new season and new venue. Through the creative solutions they developed for the challenges encountered in their projects at different scales, the speakers inspired the audience. At the event organized by ArcheThink, Kurtul Erkmen, Ayça Taylan, and Tamer Nakışçı shared the difficulties they faced in their design processes and the innovative solutions they devised to overcome them. In this gathering, three design practices working at different scales presented their creative solutions, developed with a deep respect for İstanbul’s heritage.Tamer Nakışçı shared his project centered around a narrow, unused space squeezed between two buildings in Karaköy, describing it as “an encounter that revitalizes the city’s cultural memory.” Ayça Taylan narrated her design story, reimagining İstanbul’s iconic street vendors within the dynamics of the moderncity. Kurtul Erkmen took the audience through the challenges of transforming the 200-year-old Feshane building into a cultural and arts center.
